I have added option 6 in the tutorial for HeiDoc.net Windows ISO Downloader tool to help with downloading official ISO files of older Windows 10 versions.

    Just a quick note -

I needed to download the ISO for 1909. Browser I used was Chrome, in case that matters.

When I tried using Option 5 "Download Older Windows 10 Home or Pro ISO from Microsoft via TechBench by WZT," my Malwarebytes Premium app popped up a warning that I was about to download a Trojan, so I stopped right there and cancelled/closed that window.

I've now used Option 6: Heidoc.net, and when I scanned the download with Norton 360 it said it was fine.

Might have been a false alarm, but I figure better safe than sorry so I thought I'd mention it so others can be aware.

    Hello Laurie,

It most likely was a false positive since the links are just direct download links to Microsoft servers.

Did this happen when you clicked on Download, or for some other action?

In addition, be sure that you are clicking on the correct Download button. Otherwise, you may be clicking on advertising that would trigger MBAM.

Can't be absolutely sure how far I got; I can try recreating my steps and can grab a screenshot when I get the message if it's important.

FYI, when I clicked on the link again just now (from a different computer) this time McAfee immediately popped up with a challenge ("potentially risky site - do you want to accept the risk") so it may just be a trigger based on the underlying URL - but I think I got as far as clicking on a Download button the other day.

I tested just now, and if I clicked on any download button or link other than the one like in the screenshot (circled in red) in the tutorial MBAM had a PUP fit as well.

I'd just use option 6 to avoid mistakenly clicking on the wrong download button.

Microsoft has released an ISO file for Windows 10 Insider Preview version 2004 build 20150 for the Dev Channel (Fast ring).

Executed the program, everything popped up, STARTED TO DOWNLOAD STARTING ON 0% [progress]. Never moved off 0% for over 24 hours. Next attempt? Same results.

HeiDoc downloader is a TechBench based program, that performs some sort of validation for the local installed version of Windows 10. The chances are, that it also verifies Windows activation. Anyway...

I routinely control program access to the Internet, unless the program is explicitly allowed to access the web, it cannot connect. Starting the HeiDoc downloader resulted in two program windows:

    Download Windows 10 ISO File-heidoc-start.jpg

    This windows was overlayed by an other window, video message from the sponsors;

    Download Windows 10 ISO File-heidoc-sponsor.jpg

Without closing the windows, changed the firewall rules to allow web access for the program, selected windows version without an issue:

    Download Windows 10 ISO File-heidoc-link.jpg

The actual link points to MS with local version verified:

    Code:
https://software-download.microsoft.com/pr/Win10_2004_English_x64.iso?t=bunch of hex code = verification code = local system version = download 2004

The sponsor link did not reload on its own, nor did I hit refresh in the window. After the download completed, the program was closed and the firewall rule removed.

    Couple of notes...

There should be some warning/option about the program including video advertisement. While I trust HeiDoc, third-party videos not so much. There should be an opt out at the program start for not allowing video ad, even if it means that the program would exists. One could just use the MCT in that case, that also does verification of the local version installed.

No worries. Step 2 in option 6 does mention the advertising.

2 Run the downloaded Windows-ISO-Downloader.exe file, and ignore/minimize the advertising window.

Agreed. Options 5 and 6 should really only be used if one needs an ISO for an older version of Windows 10 not available by MCT. Either way, they all get you an official ISO though.
