    @Brink
    I have just downloaded an .iso using Option Three. Two years ago, SFC found corrupted files which only got fixed, in the end, by pointing to the files in the .iso. I thought it prudent to download the current version instead of relying on a two year old version, in case I needed to fix files again. Is there a difference in the files between build 1511, which I had & the latest which is 1709? May I suggest that you update the tutorial about using Microsoft Edge, as the steps you show are outdated. I managed to muddle through by clicking various 'tags' in Edge, until the options you show appeared. I was just lucky I guess but updated instructions & diagrams are needed.

    There is nothing wrong with Option 3 - step 5 explicitly says to click emulation tab.

    Step 4 does show emulation tab hightlighted but first time you do this, that is not tab in focus, but subsequently, it is always in focus if you open developer pane.

    Re. iso- mount as a drive, and run setup.exe. 1709 OS files cannot be used to repair 1511 issues.

    Hi cereberus, I'll take your word for it as I don't use the Edge browser & did not know about the option of "but subsequently, it is always in focus if you open developer pane."

    I was more wondering if one could use 1511 to repair 1709, when dealing with SFC errors?

    It is a moot point as I keep Windows 10 updated and am now on 1709.

    Thanks for your clarification.

    Yeah, the ISO needs to be at least the same version number as you have installed. It's preferred to be the same build, but same version will do.

    Update:

    No new ISOs are planned. There is a clean install bug that would make ISOs not work with 17074.
