How to Turn On or Off Notifications on Head Mounted Display in Windows 10
Information
Notifications are messages or alerts from apps and other senders that pop up as a notification banner.
Starting with Windows 10 build 16275, you can now turn on or off to show notifications on your head mounted display (aka: mixed reality headset) .
This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off showing notifications on your head mounted display for your account in Windows 10.
Note
You will need to have Get notifications from apps and other senders turned on to be able to turn on Show notifications on my head mounted display below.
CONTENTS:
- Option One: Turn On or Off Showing Notifications on Head Mounted Display in Settings
- Option Two: Turn On or Off Showing Notifications on Head Mounted Display using a REG file
1. Open Settings, and click/tap on the System icon.
2. Click/tap on Notifications & actions on the left side. (see screenshot below)
3. Under Notifications on the right side, turn on (default) or off Show notifications on my head mounted display for what you want.
4. When finished, you can close Settings if you like.
Note
The .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings
NOC_GLOBAL_SETTING_ALLOW_HMD_NOTIFICATIONS DWORD

0 = off
1. Do step 2 (on) or step 3 (off) below for what you would like to do.
NOTE: This is the default setting.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Turn_Off_Notifications_on_Head_Mounted_Display.reg
Download
4. Save the .reg file to your desktop.
5. Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.
6. When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.
7. If you like, you can delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
