How to Add or Remove Music Library in Windows 10

Libraries gather folders that are stored in different locations so you can browse them in one place. You can add or remove folders and drives to be included in a library as you like.

Windows 10 has the Camera Roll, Documents, Music, Pictures, Saved Pictures, and Videos libraries by default.

The C:\Users\<user name>\Music folder is included by default in the Music library.

If you don't need or want the Music library, then you can remove it from showing in Libraries.

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove the Music library showing in Libraries for all users in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to add or remove the Music library.

    No wrapping "Library": Removal?

I would like to get rid of the Music, Video, Pictures and Documents entries in File Explorer.

In the tutorial above these folders are depicted below "LIbrary".

I have no such wrapping "Library (see attached snapshot).

    Why?

How can I remove them anyway (on Win10 v2004)?

Does "remove" mean only remove from appearing in File Explorer or remove them from whole file system?

What happens if these special folders are completely removed from file system and a programs wants to
    access this folder?

    Is prgm crashing?

    Hello @tobwen,

Libraries is a separate group of folders that only show in the navigation pane if set to do so.

How to Hide or Show Libraries in Navigation Pane in Windows 10

The folders you are wanting to remove in File Explorer > This PC are different than Libraries. The folders in This PC are linked to the same folder in your C:\Users\<username> folder. Removing these folders at the This PC location will not affect being able to access them from the source C:\Users\<username> folder location. You can use the tutorial below to remove them from This PC.
