Automatically Turn Off Wi-Fi Upon Ethernet Connect in Windows  

Sorry, I am a bit confused, “It looks like the GPO is only valid for domain joined computers, and it's not specifically for turning off Wi-Fi when connected to Ethernet.” But it is working perfectly for me and is t this the native method you refer to ???

also doesn’t The GPO script simply act as a switch, turning off WiFi as I can do in windows, maybe this is an over simplistic view, but I do t have an I. Depth knowledge of such things

Sorry for the confusion. I was referring to the other 3rd party program options instead.

The GPO is native, but it's description below doesn't match what this tutorial is for.

Hi, I realise the description is somewhat bewildering, to me anyway, but it’s listed as being a simple turn WiFi off if Ethernet detected and vice versa, isn’t that what this tutorial is about ?

LOL, no. Don't go to the corner.

Correct, the tutorial is for automatically turning off Wi-Fi when connected to Ethernet.

The GPO is for not allowing non-domain network connections when connected to a domain (work/school) network instead. This would be unrelated to the tutorial.

I always use an ethernet connection for accessing the internet (faster and more reliable connection). To save electricity and unnecessary wear and tear on the Network card I just leave my laptop with Flight Mode turned on permanently . If I need to print using my wireless printer I just turn off Flight Mode until Ive finished printing and then turn Flight Mode back on again.
Am I misunderstanding how Network Cards work? Ive been doing this for quite a while now. Is this not a good idea..Am I doing something wrong?

Hey mate,

You're not doing anything wrong.

The method in the tutorial is just another option available to have Wi-Fi automatically turn off whenever connected via Ethernet, and Wi-Fi automatically turn on when disconnected from Ethernet.
