You might see if reinstalling its drivers and restarting the computer may get it to show up afterwards.

done all that. reinstalled creator at least twice - it works perfect with 1607
I posted a few times about this but MS apparently "knows better". I have heard nothing from them.

Hopefully it'll do better in the Fall Creators Update to be released possibly sometime in September.

I'm not betting on it. There is no reason for it not to work other than maybe it is looking only for the new version of the sensor.
    Makes me mad

You might also contact the fingerprint manufacturer to see if they may be able to have a solution via driver.

i tried the latest driver I can find. Hello appears to have become very picky about what FPS it will use.

Hi, just a thought for 'Notes' (and perhaps in others)..

Microsoft is currently working to include 'Windows Hello' feature to Windows 10 in Safe Mode, so that you can unlock your device using your face, fingerprint, PIN etc. to make it a complete password-less experience. This feature is targeted to release next year with 20H1 update.

Microsoft recently introduced it with the Windows 10 Insiders preview build 18995 to get the early feedback from the fast ring insiders.

I was wondering if there's a way to remove the fingerprint database or however those are stored.. noting there's no way given here other than by the GUI.. e.g.
toshiba techra R940 fingerprint utility issues. windows 10 64bit

... perhaps as per the answer here:

    Thanks!

Interesting. I think that would clear the database for all biometrics though and not just fingerprints.

Hi, related to the above- is it actually possible now to create an account with ONLY a fingerprint and no password or PIN associated?

It’s asking me for a pin but I didn’t make one I use fingerprint

Minor typos - use of 'setup':

    • Option One: To Set up a Fingerprint for your Account in Windows 10
    • Option Two: To Add another Fingerprint to your Account in Windows 10
    • Option Three: To Remove All Fingerprints from your Account in Windows 10
    • Option Four: To Setup Fingerprint for your Account from Sign-in Screen

    OPTION ONE

To Setup a Fingerprint for your Account in Windows 10

You would use this option if you have not set up and added a fingerprint to your account yet.

Open the Settings app, and click/tap on the Accounts icon.

    2
Click/tap on Sign-in options on the left side, click/tap on Windows Hello Fingerprint on the right side, and click/tap on the Set up button. (see screenshot below)

If you have not already, it is required to have a PIN for your account before you can setup a Windows Hello fingerprint.
    - possibly more later...
