I can't see a shortcut method to deal with that other than start afresh.
The only true way to make sure the path it what you want is to set up Windows with a local account, or create a new local account, with the name you want first, then switch that local account to a Microsoft account.

I want to change from "dawn1" on my windows laptop and I only have 1 account the account I'm currently on and I was wondering do I need to create a second admin account to edit this account? Or can I just edit this account. What should I do just curious.
Hello Dawn,
You do need to use another administrator account to change the name of your account since you can't be signed in to the account you want to change.
You could temporarily enable the built-in Administrator account below to use though.
