Brink, using information from another of your superb tutorials, I used lusrmgr.msc to change the name from deede to DeeDee and then repaired the installation of my Acrobat Pro. It worked! Everything seems to be working the way I want it to now! I'm going to go ahead and reinstall all of my programs. Thanks!

Is there any way to reflect the changes made in Advanced system settings>User Profiles in the Control Panel? I was successful in renaming my User Profile folder, but it kinda bugs me that it's still showing the old name in the path I mentioned above.

    "djdel" should now be "djdelarosa25"

EDIT: Whoops, realized that it's an entire different thing haha.

I think it is best to create a link from the old profile name to the new one in case something tries to refer to the old profile name.

    Great tutorial Brink

    Hello Brink,

Following a new installation of Windows 10 version 1809, I successfully changed my user profile name using this tutorial. However, it seems that some apps that were installed along with Windows are may still be seeking the default name of ***** created on installation. For example, although Edge offers to save web site passwords, that is not happening properly; these "saved" password fields are not automatically re-populated as expected and
    Manage Passwords is empty.

A registry search found many references to ***** including this one:

    C:\Users\*****\AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AC\#!001\MicrosoftEdge\U ser\Default\DOMStore

What are your thoughts? Reinstall Windows? (I hope not!). Reinstall the apps that are bundled with Windows including Edge? Edit the registry changing all instances of ***** to my new User Profile name? Thanks in advance for your guidance.

    Regards,
    John

    Hello John,

In situations like that, it's usually best to either rename the profile back to what it was OR:

    1) Create a new local account with the name you wanted.

    2) Make it an administrator account.

    3) Sign out of the old account, and sign in to the new account.

    4) Copy over any files you wanted from the old account to the new account.

    5) Delete the old account.

    6) If wanted, switch the local account to a Microsoft account.

    Thanks Brink...this makes sense.
The name I want for the new account is the same as that which exists now following the renaming procedure. Therefore, should I first reverse the existing name back to ***** and then go through steps 1-6 to create my new account?

    Regards,
    John

Correct, you would want to rename it back so you can use that name for the new account.
