    Hello Brink,

    Thanks for the helpful tutorial -- I've managed to change my user folder to the correct name. However, when I look at C:/Users, I can still see the old user folder (alongside the new user folder). Just wanted to know it's OK to delete the old user folder? Its properties say it's 0 bytes anyway.....or to manage my OCD should I just hide the folder instead?

    Hello Shin, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    If your user profile is working properly now, it will be ok to delete that folder.

    As an extra precaution, you can leave it in the Recycle Bin to make sure there are no adverse effects caused from deleting it before emptying the Recycle Bin. This way you can easily restore it if needed.

    I am on Windows 10 Home Single Language and I used a Microsoft account when setting up the OS. It create a weird user folder with only partial characters from the account's emails address. I want to change the user folder to my name. Would your steps work for me?

    Thanks. I managed to changes the Users folder name and everything except for one thing seems to be working correctly.

    The tiles in the Start Menu have the dreaded 'A great app is on it's way!' icon.

    I've looked through a lot of solutions online and I can confirm that I am connected to the internet, my apps are all updated, the Microsoft Store can download updates normally and the sfc /scannow utility tells me that there are no errors.

    Please can you help?

    @wwwescape,

    Usually the down arrows like that on a tile in Start indicate the app is soon to be there.

    If they didn't show up by now, then you could see if resetting the Start layout back to default may help.

    Hello Sestache,

    In that case, you might see if booting into Safe Mode while logged in to the other account may allow doing step 11 forward.

    Great news.

    Please post a separate thread for the search issue since it's different than what this tutorial is for.
