Hi Thomas mate I don't know how to do that and I have tried changing the name though computer management and it will not let me change the User to anything else and if I delete it it is telling me that all data will be lost.

Ah well problem solved and so simple too. Just went into the Control Panel /User Accounts and clicked on the User admin display and up came the name option change and I just changed it to the long version of the lads name because the ideal shortened one was already in use apparently and hey presto on reboot the User had change into his name.
I found that in a YouTube by some Indian fellow and it worked perfectly.
So I am a happy camper once more apart from the tact that the Windows system made it so complicated to change those user account names is a mystery to me.

Ithought afterwards I would show you the video that I found How to Change User Name of Account in Windows 10 | How to Change Your Account Name on Windows 10 - YouTube

I have a stupid question about this before I change my local user name from "Mark" to something like "Mark78" or whatever. Will this invalidate/change my user folders (i.e. everything under C:\Users\Mark)? Or does it just change the ID used to log in?

    Hello Mark,

Changing the account name will have no affect on its profile folder name. The profile folder will still be associated with the new account name.
