    Got it. I understand now. This would be a handy feature. I can just and an extended descriptor to hide the option until I need it (shown below). Thank you!

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]
    @="Restore ownership"
    "HasLUAShield"=""
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""
    "Extended"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
    @="Restore ownership"
    "HasLUAShield"=""
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""
    "Extended"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]
    @="Restore ownership"
    "HasLUAShield"=""
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]
    @="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c icacls "%1" /setowner "NT Service\\TrustedInstaller" /T /C"

    The line should be "Extended"="" instead, but I have updated the tutorial to include .reg downloads for a Shift + Right click option to help.

    Hello femo, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    What did you try to reset permissions for?

    Usually failed means from access issues.

    I'm having a hard time with my user and temp folder. The temp, I've changed to other location and carry on; with the user I've been having a lot of problems not able to install software, "sometimes" not able to write to Desktop folder... As an example, I've tried to install FreeCAD and the installation process always break with "unable to create directory *** (don't remember the name) in c:\user\ferna (my user). I've created the directory manually and reinstalled the software with no problem.
    I've already created a new user and the problem persists, so I assume that the problem is in the c:\%user% folder.

    Does restoring the default temp location sort this?

    Unfortunately, no.
    Restoring the default location for the TEMP directory denies access to the applications, so I keep the TEMP in another location.
