My GameDVR is saving new clips and screenshots to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp, making it so i cant change location due to the absence of the Captures folder, is there a way to correct this like some value buried in RegEdit or something
This is happening because you must have made the 'Captures' folder hidden. Change its visibility and your captures will again be saving where it should be.

I have a user that deleted the captures folder, rather than moving it. And of course it's not in his Recycle bin. I was going to tell him to go set it in the registry, but see Shawn Brink's note above that it needs to be moved in file explorer at least once to show up there, and you can't just set the registry key directly. So my solution for him is not valid I guess.

Maybe if he creates the folder in the original default location it will still be seen as a special shell folder and have the location tab? I'll have him try it.

    Hello Shawn,

He should be able to use an option below to restore the "Captures" folder.

Appreciate this direction thanks. I noticed I didn't see an entry "screenshots" folder in registry user shell folders list either, I guess it's special like this too?

If I remember correctly, you won't see it in the registry unless the "Screenshots" folder gets moved for the first time.
