Hello @bongo2202, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

There's not a default association for APK files by default in Windows. If you like, the .reg file below will unassociate APK files for you.

Hello! Is there a way you could add a zip file or something at the bottom of the first post, so we can download ALL those .reg files?
I like to have a USB stick with me for PC repair, and it would be great to have these in a folder for when needed. Thanks for considering it!

Hello @wintendo, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

I added a ZIP file above the table in OPTION TWO that contains all the downloads to help.

I have video files (AVI and MPEG) created by an old version of Pinnacle Studio. Each file has an accompanying SCN file which contains info for the video clip. I accidentally changed the default app for SCN file from "unkown file extension" to "Notepad". I've reset apps to defaults and even done a registry edit (which works on XP and 7 but not windows 10).

How do I restore default associations for SCN files?

Ok, problem again. The clips were working right after I downloaded the unassociate file and merged...
Then I re-installed the Pinnacle Studio 9 (I had un-installed it first to try to fix the scn problem).
Now the clips are back to the same "Windows Media Player has encountered an error" message and "Can't play" on Movies and TV.
After the first time I installed the program I'm pretty sure the playback was still fine on all players.
I didn't have a problem until the change to the scn files. Since then I can only watch the clips inside the video program itself.

After using the un-associate file, SCN is no longer listed in "default apps". But in the registry it says...

    (Default) REG_SZ {value not set}
    a REG_SZ {1AC14E77-02E7-4E5D-B744-2EB1AE5198B7}/Open...
    MRU List REG_SZ a

Is this entry a problem? What if I delete the second line?

Or could the problem be with the Pinnacle program itself?

    Any help will be appreciated.

Let's go ahead and see a screenshot showing that registry location before deleting it to make sure it's safe. :)
