The Unassociate_SCN.reg would delete that registry key for you if you would like to merge it again.

Ok so I merged it again and it deleted the scn extension completely from the registry. Now I've also noticed some suspicious .com registry entries with lots of numbers behind them?

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.com/search?q=scn+file+format&form=WNSGPH&qs=AS&cvid=58e37ee2ec8a467db2523cac7dd60228&pq=scn%20file&nclid =5CB529757CF671B3E8F9E49B659C961C&ts=1458857854896&nclidts=1458857854&tsms=896

    What the hell is that?^

Are these fixes official? Why doesn't Microsoft have something to fix this crap? All it took was one accidental click in the wrong box and I'm wasting hours of my life and f--king up my computer trying to fix it?

I wouldn't worry about the .com stuff.

Are you .scn files ok now?

If not, then you could do a system restore using a restore point dated before you changed them by mistake to undo and fix it.

Hello. Desperately in need of some help. I inadvertently changed all my .TAX files so that they now try to open with Adobe Acrobat (which of course cannot open them).
    Previously they were "unknown application".
I have searched and tried other suggestions. Could someone please help as to how I change .TAX back to "unknown"?

Hello hollies, and welcome to Ten Forums.

The .reg file below will unassociate .tax files for you. :)

    Hi Shawn,

I notice that you have added a number of new files to this tutorial. Can one assume that the zip file is updated everytime you add a new routine to the list?

The main list of files (the table) does not show some of the new additions.

    Hello Geoff, :)

The ZIP file will have all the ones listed in the tutorial for the first post. The others in the thread are just to unassociate file types not in Windows by default.

Once I have opened pdf.reg and imported it's values to the register I will get Microsoft Edge to open .pdf files. My goal is to restore the default menu when opening .pdf files so I can choose what to do. This menu I mean:

    Name: default.png
Views: 771
Size: 14.3 KB

It's from the factory settings. I also tried this:

Both methods do not seem to restore the menu to popup like Windows 10 did in the beginning after I installed Windows 10. What is the final solution for this?

In the meantime, thank you so much for your attention and participation.
