There are no programs related to Office 2016 in the options, so I have to locate the executable files for Word, Excel, or Powerpoint to set it. But, my settings won't saved.

So, I tried to open my files from the program itself (e.g. I open my .doc file from Word 2016), and it opened normally. Same result for .xls and .ppt files.

    Any solution to this?
When you use "Open with" on the files to select the .exe of the program, are you checking the "Always use this app to open" box?

Odd. I'll have a play with it later today when I get home to my desktop with Office 2016 installed to see how it behaves on it.

    Ok @bima1997,

If you like, you could download and merge the .reg file below to see if it may help since you have the 32-bit Office 2016 installed like me. It will restore the default associations and registry entries for .doc, .pps, and .xls.

    But well, let's try it.

    Thanks in advance.

If it doesn't help, then reinstalling Office 2016 to act as a repair install may.

    Hello Brink,

I've managed to set old Office files (.doc, .pps, .ppt, .xls, etc) to be opened in Office 2016!
So, I use Office Cleaner from Microsoft to remove all of my Office installation, restart my computer, and then reinstall it again. After the installation is finished, I set my old Office files to be opened in Office 2016 via "Open With" and it works like a charm

    Thanks for your assistance, Brink!
