"Most" other instructions advise to delete the "datastore.edb".
Sometimes together with the "edb.log" and/or the whole "Logs" folder or even the whole "SoftwareDistribution" Folder, which actually IMHO is only advisable for problems with Windows Update.

Suppose deleting only the "edb.log" is the "gentlest variant"?!
Is there anything official about this from Microsoft?

    Hello mfessler,

Agreed. Deleting the SoftwareDistribution folder should only be included as part of resetting Windows Update like in the method used in the tutorial below. I do have a link at the top of the tutorial for a Microsoft reference on it to help.

    Good morning.
I ran the powershell command related to the version of Windows 2004, the update history has not been cleared.
    Some idea?
    Thanks

    Hello DMD,

Just to verify, did you run the .bat file or manually?

If the Windows Update history in Settings was open during this, then you may need to close and reopen Settings to see it cleared.

As a test, open an elevated command prompt, and run the commands below one at a time manually to see if you get any error messages along the way. This will be for manually running the same commands used in the .bat file in step 2.

    net stop usosvc

    net stop wuauserv

    del %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\edb.log

    del /f /q C:\ProgramData\USOPrivate\UpdateStore\*

    net start usosvc

    net start wuauserv

    UsoClient.exe RefreshSettings

I ran the .bat file that I picked up from the link that was mentioned in the post: Updateverlauf loschen zurucksetzen Windows 10 Deskmodder Wiki

    sc stop "usosvc"
    sc stop "wuauserv"
    del /f /q C:\ProgramData\USOPrivate\UpdateStore\*
    sc start "usosvc"
    sc start "wuauserv"
    UsoClient.exe RefreshSettings

I noticed that in the syntax of the .bat file
the command "sc stop" "sc start" is inserted instead of "net stop" "net start".
So it works with the correct syntax.
I also ask if the folder "%systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution" and "%systemroot%\system32\catroot2" should be deleted.
    Thanks

You can use either command to stop and start the services. Both should work.

Start, Stop, and Disable Services in Windows 10

You do not want to delete those folder just to clear the Windows Update history.

You would delete those folders as a part of resetting Windows Update like below.

I ask if I can combine the two batch scripts.
1- the one relating to the cancellation of the chronology for the 2004 edition
    2- Reset Update Windows
    Thanks

Yes, you sure can combine them if you like to perform both actions at once.
