The tool lets you select which updates to not download and install.

Hello, I am having a similar problem with my hide/show updates config. OS is Windows 10 Home 64bit. So I'm trying to hide the update that broke the Xbox one controllers, but even though it registers that it is hidden, Windows is still trying to install it. Any advice?

Hello CampisGrinder, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

It sounds like the update may already have been downloaded and is why it's trying to be installed. You may need to let it install, uninstall the update, then hide the update again before it tries to download again.

Going to check that now. When I open windows update, it just says install, so I'm going to bet that it already downloaded it. This is rather annoying.

Just as I figured Windows will not let me hide the update now, as soon as it gets to desktop from the uninstall reboot, Windows starts to download the update. I'm trying really hard not to get mad at it, but what sense does this make?

On another note, I did this successfully on my laptop which runs the exact same OS, but because I use a wireless internet connection, I am able to set the network as "metered" and stop it from downloading this useless update altogether. Is there any way to set an Ethernet connection as metered?
