The direct download link in Step 4 still works.
The link goes to a ZIP file attached to Ten Forums rather than Microsoft.
If I recall correctly, the ZIP file originated in this post: Hide or Show Windows Updates in Windows 10

I only referred to the direct download link wushowhide.diagcab and I have no interest in the zip file link.

Step 4 has two download links.
One goes to "wushowhide.diagcab". Another one goes to "wushowhide.zip".

The ZIP is just a direct download of the same wushowhide.diagcab file from here in case it becomes unavailable at the link from Microsoft.

A very sensible move. I do the same locally.
But I have no idea why everybody wants to respond to comments I did not make. I did not even mention the zip file.
What was remarkable for me was that, despite having removed the explanatory KB articles, MS still provide a direct download of the tool. That was what I remarked upon.

    Thanks for that rep,
    All the best,

I have a Win 10 Pro 32 bit machine which is dedicated to run an old 16 bit program.

Windows Update installed 2022-09 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 10 Version 21H2 for x86 based systems (KB5017380) today and when rebooting after install the machine had a hard stop. SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED
The machine eventually automatically repaired and recovered by uninstalling the update. I downloaded the Hide / Show update tool and followed the tutorial but it did not show the update giving problems. It did show a lot of other updates.
I normally run with show updates but not auto install group policy so the update won't install again until I want but I do eventually need to run Win Update again. There is also a code of 0x800F0845.

    Update (sorry, no pun intended):
I just noticed that it is an Optional Quality update so it won't try again unless I let it.
Disk Manager shows C: is 69% (48GB) free.
Trim was 17 days back and now updated.
I ran the Updates troubleshooter and it fixed some unspecified problems.
    Tried again and failed.

    What now?

    Do you mean KB5017308 CU?
    KB5017308 CU - TenForums

Some people find that downloading the update using the direct download link given in the article works when WU's attempt caused problems.
But do also note some of the posts in that article that discuss the problems people have experienced.

Problems with KB5017380 have been reported. I added a link to a news article in the thread under the article on that update in the News section of tenforums - Try3 posted the link to that above.
