Thanks for confirming that you don't see it on lock. The steps I would take now are (in this order)...

    sfc/ scannow
Run SFC Command in Windows 10

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image
(you may need to repeat these two steps up to 3 times until no errors are found)

If the above steps don't fix it, then an in-place repair install almost certainly will (you will be able to keep your installed apps and files).

Finally - something that worked. I just joined to say thank you for finally fixing my Spotlight. I've spent literally a year and a half searching for the solution, deleting files, logging in, logging out, running SFC, etc., and through it all, my Spotlight wouldn't even stay as an option - it kept reverting to "Picture".

After the latest Windows 10 Update, 1803, I had hoped it might be fixed by MS, but it wasn't. So I started another search again this morning, found the batch file at the start of this thread - and like magic, it works again.

I'm going to be very judicious about responding to the "Do you like this?" question, as I think that's what broke it in the first place.

    Many thank you's

Thanks for the tutorial and the bat file. I now have a working lock screen. I couldn't even use one of my own downloaded wallpaper for picture on lockscreen. It is finally working after around 8 months of being stuck on one picture. I know that really a thing like that is not a big deal but I really hate when I can't be in control of what I want to happen on my computer. Thank you for helping me sort out this windows bug. I made a login just to thank you. Have a great day !!

This is for 1803 and apologies if it has already been used - Brink gets the credit.

    Hello Peter,

Yep, that's what the .bat file does.
