My assets folder is empty after doing a manual reset of Spotlight. Any idea on how to fix it?
That is correct. If you used the instructions in post #1 to reset Spotlight then one of the actions is to delete the contents of your Assets folder. This will be re-populated with new images as Spotlight starts to sync again.

The 'fix' is just to be patient and wait. It can take 24-48 hours for Spotlight to download its first new images.

Now it's broken again due to Windows 10 displaying a wrong date of 2043. It's showing that mountain lake wallpaper. An error occurred while windows was synchronizing with time the peer is unreachable. This issue broke Spotlight again.

    Hello Dave,

Does it work properly after manually correcting the time and date?

So far it's been 48 hours after running the script and the assets folder is still empty and it's still stuck on the mountain lake wallpaper with the red backpack.

Does toggling to use a Picture then back to Windows Spotlight help to refresh it?

Did you remember to switch to using Picture before resetting Spotlight? That is a necessary step, you then switch back to Spotlight after the reset.
