Just to follow up I used Powershell and got this but am still not sure of what the WEI is.

I really do not know why people bother with this - its results are so meaningless and dependent on what you do.

MS dropped this openly for good reasons.

In times past (Vista for certain, not sure on W7) you actually had to run something like this in order to realise the full performance from the PC. If you didn't, then such things as Aero remained unavailable. As cereberus says, these days its not required.

    Not necessarily true Martin.
When adding an SSD(or swapping one for an HDD) it let's windows know the disk speed, so the correct Optimize Drives will be use, for an example.
Actually it's good to run winsat formal after and hardware swap.
Running system health check will do the same though: perfmon /report(or "Start Maintenance" in Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance)

The scores, themselves, for the user are meaningless, as they used to be for giving a system score to know if a game could be used on a machine, but with modern games it doesn't benchmark far enough.

Sure but enabling it for that seems pointless to me as you can do it directly via control panel, as you say.

    Yep.
The points have no meaning at all now.
What is interesting are the speeds/results.
I have had an overclock that was stable in Prime95, but when running winsat, it froze at the CPU encryption phase(which can be, and is, used in real world as opposed to Prime95 power virus/stability test).

    Hello John,

WinSPRLevel is the WEI score. For you, that would be 8.15.

I agree with the others though. The WEI score should only be taken lightly as just a general idea about your system.

Ok Shawn I only look at it once in a blue moon to be honest as it really doesn't mean a lot to me - a curiosity if you like.

It is interesting to note though that my laptop which has I think build 1804 is showing 0 as that reading as I seem to remember it being mentioned before about that build not playing ball with WEI.

Since 1804 does not exist, 0 seems reasonable :-D.

Yes Cerebus it doesn't because a winver is coming back as 1709 so why the odd WEI having said that it is only of curiosity value anyway. I didn't think of checking that before I posted I just presumed something my Mum said one should never do LOL!!
