    I agree
    as per my post
    Please see
    OPTION TWO
To Convert Windows 10 from Legacy BIOS to UEFI at Boot
    - this is done from the Cmd Prompt at boot - labelled the X -prompt as shown on the image under that heading
which is the same as using a WinPE boot disc, made as below.
WinPE in the context of the tutorial may be referred to as the Windows recovery environment cmd prompt - opened at boot
Open Command Prompt at Boot in Windows 10
    and from the link
Open Command Prompt at Boot in Windows 10
cmd prompt at boot using installation media or from Advanced options troubleshoot - cmd prompt -
    Option 2.

    Please open a new thread.

In the new thread post images or share links for:

Followed this tutorial but maybe have an issue with WinRE. I have Win 10 Pro 64-bit v 21H2 on a dell Optiplex 3010 MT with a 1TB HDD..
I first saw in disk management that I have only two partitions - the OS and a recovery partition
Then, I made a complete Macrium Reflect Free image of my hard disk onto an external drive .
Then, I confirmed I had the recovery partition using Navy's suggested reagentc /info. Yes, I have it.
Then, in an elevated cmd prompt I tried to do mbr2gpt / validate, but it said I could only do that from Win PE, which I am not using.
So I bit the bullet and ran mbr2gpt /convert /allowFullOS. It ran very quickly and gave me a bunch of lines ending with:
    . . .
    MBR2GPT: Conversion completed successfully
    Call WinReReapir to repair WinRE
MBR2GPT: Failed to update ReAgent.xml, please try to manually disable and enable WinRE.
MBR2GPT: Before the new system can boot properly you need to switch the firmware to boot to UEFI model.

I have NOT YET rebooted. What should I do about the "Failed to update ReAgent.xml, please try to manually disable and enable WinRE"?
By the way, I'm not sure what is WinRE.

    Thanks!!!

zbook - you are correct, but as it turned out the F2 reboot into System Setting, with a manual change to UEFI, with a reboot into UEFI, fixed the issue. WinRE is Enabled. Thanks.

    Nice.

It may not happen if MBR2GPT is run using Windows RE.
These are performed so infrequently that there are not enough to test.

Please run these scripts and post a share link into this thread: (the logs have names but what is important are the files troubleshooted)

zbook - thanks, but there's no need to run your scripts. The error message I got about "Failed to update ReAgent.xml, please try to manually disable and enable WinRE" is apparently pretty common, and numerous sites recommended simply continuing (System Setting change boot to UEFI and then reboot, which worked for me) or (if that doesn't work) then doing a reagentc disable and enable.

Brink and team - a different suggestion: Before I did the convert, I tried validate, but as I was not using WinPE, it didn't work.
A different source indicates that mbr2gpt /validate /allowFullOS would work, with the /allowFullOS added at the end. I can no longer test, but if this is correct, then I suggest adding it to the tutorial.

But many thanks to all - this was really helpful !!!!

With your post we are considering developing a script for any MBR2GPT failures.

Your run was successful so it's potentially for others that may need logs troubleshooted.

If possible please collect these logs so that they can be scanned for the earlier problems or whether it reports success:

Specifies the directory where MBR2GPT.exe logs should be written. If not specified, %windir% is used. If specified, the directory must already exist, it will not be automatically created or overwritten. The log file names are: diagerr.xml, diagwrn.xml, setuperr.log, and setupact.log.

    C:\windows\setuperr.log
    C:\windows\setupact.log
    C:\windows\diagerr.xml
    C:\windows\diagwrn.xml

    Hi,
I did option 1 and it added a drive letter D to 708mb system reserved in front of C
Easy way to get rid of it ?
Or can I just get rid of/ delete now D partition since efi was created but it's at the end of C
