    I seem to be having his same problem except I have the brackets and the icons are not changing. I even rebooted my PC just to make sure but I'm not sure what's wrong.Change Icons of Folders in This PC in Windows 10-whyisntthisworkingreeeeeeee.png

    Hello @irllyhatewin10, and welcome to Ten Forums.

    Never mind on changing the value type. I just noticed it was only different on one of my systems for some reason.

    A few things to check:

    1) Is the .ico file unblocked if currently blocked?

    2) Test not having the icon path wrapped in quotes.

    The files are not blocked. I'm even using other icons in the folder as icons for other things. In fact, I uninstalled Windows Defender months ago.

    I actually already tested them without the quotations and it doesn't work without them either.

    Well, if you like, upload the icon file here, and I'll test it on my system using the same settings as yours to see if anything may stand out.

    In the mean time, you might see if using Option Two to apply to all users may work for you.

    @irllyhatewin10,

    I just tested on my system using option 1 with your icon, and it worked for me as seen below. I don't see any reason why it's not for you.

    Have you also tried option 2?

    I've tried step 1 and 2 and nothing.

    Maybe it has to do with the latest windows update?

    It shouldn't matter what build or version you're running. It should work in all of them.
