I tried The GPEDIT on one of my systems and it worked great...it now even gives me a notification when a defender update shows up...I like that...thanks Brink.*john

Question for you...When you disable updates via the services method, will it hinder updates for the store apps? I think I've seen it stop updates to those apps even though I wanted some updates. There are now only a couple of store apps I use.

    Hello Roy, :)

Yes, disabling the "Windows Update" service will affect Store updates as well.

If you like, you could use OPTION FOUR to set you network as a metered connection to avoid this.

I have mine set to 'Notify' me before any 'Update' using the GPEDIT method...it's great.*john

Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10

I have mine set to notify also. I wish I didn't have to select fix my account settings on the email app. Unfortunately, there is no touch application that has as good of a design. When it works, it works nicely on my surface

I don't have that issue with the 'Mail account'..and I only use one account...I have never heard of receiving 'Updates' from the Store...but then I don't hang around shopping there...hee hee....but I do get all updates from M$ wether I want them or not and use the 'Hide or Show' tool to block any I don't want to download if caught in time . *john

    Question...
If you "hide" the updates, does it stop ALL updates from downloading and installing? I don't think it does

    Disable annoying blue-dialog-update

    Hello guys,
I just found it recently (2-3 days ago from now) by myself when playing-around in event viewer.
That blue dialog is filling the entire screen, while im not in internet connection. Because it is just in task scheduler, not checking im in connection with internet or not, so it is a useless action, isnt it?. Because disk is already work hard, and screen is disturbing, and i should press cancel, because im not in internet connection.
Beside, im in working/reading on something, so the screen is annoying.

You can disable it in event viewer, as described in picture. At least 2 tasks you will disable in update-orchestrator.
Now the annoying screen is not bothering me anymore.

You can also check other task, with recent dates of running, decide to disable it or leave it.
I also disable 2 task of .net check, as i think it's not necessary.
I also disable 2 task of RAM diagnostic, i think it's not necessary.
