Here it's still not, finally got some new updates (4 of them) to test with, again automatic download and install...
Interestingly, if "NoAutoUpdate" is set to 1, it ignores "AUOptions".
When you click on checking for updates, they start downloading ASAP.
It is best to keep checking on, if you do not want them to be downloaded.
many thanks Shawn...just what I was looking for...you are doing amazing work brother...cheers!
Wait, so the "notify to download"-option keeps being ignored when hitting the "check for updates"-button?
edit: I guess that's a yes, deleted one of the last updates, waited for Windows do search for updates by itself and now that setting actually works. So that means sending in a bugreport, that the searchforupdates-button ignores that setting?

Hello there, thanks for the really useful but... not working guide:
I own an original copy of Windows 10 Pro x64 and, as with the other versions of Windows, I decided to disable automatic updates to just let Windows notify me if there are ones, so I came across this forum. I tried the First method, both by notifying for download and disabling the policy. After a restart I went into the Windows Update settings, checked for updates and it immediately and without any notice installed every update, drivers included. To sum up, is there a way to completely, exactly get the "Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" setting we used to have in the previous versions of Windows, for Windows 10, because I couldn't manage to fix this with this guide..
Have a nice day :)
Windows10SuX, did you read the message above your message?
I don't think I can get it more simpler than: if you manually search for updates (clicking the "check for updates"-button yourself instead of letting Windows do the searching on its own) that notify-setting is ignored. If you let Windows search for updates on it's own, that setting works.
