Great news. Sometimes it just takes a bit to kick in for whatever reason. :)
Beginning to think Microsoft changed something...I'm getting all updates even with automatic updates completely disabled. I'm on 10532; I think it was working flawlessly with 10240. I hope it's a bug and not a hint of what's to come.
On 10532? Have you checked to make sure that it actually isn't updating? Mine says "Last Checked" for several weeks ago (as it should), but when I check the update history, it's actually silently downloading and installing updates.
Mine started that way (which is a problem in and of itself). Then, I installed a non-Click-to-Run version of Office 2013, and I started getting updates for that, too.
It seems that using Group Policy to disable updates is unreliable. I think we may have to just disable to service. I hate doing that, though, because if any software depends on it in the future, we'll be up a creek.
Hi Shawn,
Something I've been noticing lately.
You know how I used to use USB Mobile Broadband?
Then I would have to force updates(search extra) to get them in Win8.1 and Win10.
Now I have my fiber optic, I don't have to do it anymore, but out of habit, I had been checking anyhow, and would have problems with WU.
For example it would either stick while looking for updates, or while installing them.
I would then have to find some kind of fix(irrelevant what all for this post).
Anyhow, now that I've been "weaned" from manually checking, and just let WU do it's job in the background, like it's designed, I have had absolutely no problems, and still get the updates.
Yup another case of: Where possible, let Windows take care of Windows.
Hey Cliff, :)
Great news. Sounds like it may have possibly been dropped or bad connections with the mobile broadband that caused the issues.
