    I don't think I can get it more simpler than: if you manually search for updates (clicking the "check for updates"-button yourself instead of letting Windows do the searching on its own) that notify-setting is ignored. If you let Windows search for updates on it's own, that setting works.
    Thanks again, understood now. So in order to get the Windows Update I described above, do I have to let it notify me for download or disable the policy in gpedit.msc? Thanks again, hope you got my point.
    (http://www.sevenforums.com/attachmen...settings-2.jpg Would like to achieve the third behavior in Windows 10).

    Hello,

    You would need to enable the recommended policy to have that option available for when Windows checks for updates. :)

    Hello, thanks for replying. Just one question, will I be able to choose which update to install like I used to do in Windows 8.1, 8, 7,...? (e.g. Check them to download, uncheck them to ignore.. this way: http://images.knowhow.com/Computing/...ect-update.png)

    Other than using Microsoft's special tool, the ability to select updates is gone.

    So no matter what, I will have to install them all because I can only defer its download, am I right? :(

    To get notification you can follow the instructions for option 1 in the 1st post in this topic: Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums , unfortunately gpedit only works in Pro and Enterprise editions, not in the Home edition. So you need to have Pro or Enterprise to be able to use that solution.

    The third behavior is option no. 2 in the gpedit setting from the startpost of this topic.

    Good morning, thanks for making it clear.
    So to get it working like I want I have to:
    1. Reinstall Windows 10 Pro x64 without connecting to an internet source, to not download the automatic updates;
    2. Run gpedit.msc and edit the policy (Enabled --> Option 2 (Which is option 3 in the previous versions of Windows));
    3. Connect to the internet;
    4. Remember to NOT manually check for updates or it will screw all the work done (basically it will periodically check for updates and will notify me when there are some).
    5. Download them all because I won't be able to choose which one to install.

    Am I right? :)

    P.S. Found this Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums , and that's almost exactly what I would like to get... If I set the policy to be disabled, will I be the only one to check for updates and select the ones to install or not?

    ... why reinstall? Which edition are you currently running?

    As for "Remember to NOT manually check for updates", that gpedit setting doesn't always work right away, sometimes it can take a day (or two) to actually have effect. So either you disconnect it from the internet for several days, or just install the already available updates and then wait for the setting to take effect.

    The disabled option: haven't tried that one, but if you manually search for updates, they will probably still be installed automatically. The only difference here, from what I can tell, is that Windows doesn't notify you about updates at all.
