Matthew, that's great, lol, but you're not paying attention to what I'm saying. :) I was pointing out that it did that to me *after* I'd run TairikuOkami's two lines, but *before* he'd added the remove inheritance part -- and was wondering if that had happened to anyone else, given that for a while, the two lines he'd posted *hadn't* had inheritance removed. I can't be the only person who had tried his two lines *before* he removed inheritance.

The problem arose after you had run the lines without the inheritance removed. I hope I have understood correctly this time.

Hopefully also removing inheritance fixes that and does that.
I confirm that the problem can be fixed by removing the inheritance.

Actually, it has nothing to do with my attention but to do with my poor English comprehension, which often causes problems.

Hi brink, i tried option 3 and 5 and both did not work for me.
after applying option 3 i restarted my pc and checked the windows update and it began to download my graphics driver.

after applying option 5 it worked for some time, but then i noticed that it automatically changed to enabled.

btw i know other method to do the work but just wanted to report here that this tutorial did not work.

    Thank you @LoverOfLove.

Yeah, MS isn't making it easy to disable automatic updates.

Which method is working for you?

for disabling windows update, i'm using a small portable utility called "Windows Update Blocker" Windows Update Blocker v1.0

and for disabling windows driver update i'm using registry keys from here How to Stop Windows 10 From Automatically Updating Hardware Drivers
the downloaded registry keys work very well.

i've tried option 1 from this tutorial and it didn't work and i didn't wait settings to kick in. and i've heard that option 2 also dont work.

the windows update blocker works just perfectly and immediately. i guess it is disabling windows update service then protecting this service from windows.
afaik it is the best reliable and easy method to disable windows update.

Please update this tutorial. than you very much.

The problem is that Windows keeps undoing the disable options in the tutorial.

Have you already tried option 4 for setting your network to be metered to stop most automatic updates?

Yes and option 4 works very well, but my priorities are different, i've to go outside sometime and i've to rely on my mobile network data which is very small, problem is that windows 10 download and install security-related updates even in metered connection.i cant allow those updates since my mobile data monthly quota is small and expensive.

I hear you. In your situation, using that 3rd party program to keep the "Windows Update" service disabled as needed would be best.
