Do you think that we are hijacking Brink's tutorial here? Why not go to my tutorial?

Option 3 no longer works in Windows 11.
Option 2 still works with differences in the UI - see this thread -

I disabled updates in win10 pro x64 some while ago and now I cannot turn them back on. I've tried all the measures listed in the first post as admin and none work. I cannot change the security settings in the 2 update services which are locked which, presumably is whythe advised measures don't work. Any suggestions welcome.

Ian,I dutifully followed all the methods shown in the first post of this thread 'How to etc'.

Matthew, I wish I could remember but it involved a battle with permissions and took me a while just after I'd swapped to Win 10 before Covid I think. I've been manually updateing since then. I also remember doing something to prevent MS turning it on again! One gets a bit forgetful at 81.

If you used the Group Policy Editor, go back in and see what you changed relating to Windows Updates.
