    Professional.
    These settings have absolutely no effect at all, and those keys aren't even present in new installation from untouched image.
    1803 here as well.

    These registry keys are not there by default since they only get added when the policy is configured or manually added.

    Which setting are you trying to set?

    Did you restart the computer after adding them to apply?

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate\AU]
    "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000000
    "AUOptions"=dword:00000002
    "ScheduledInstallDay"=dword:00000000
    "ScheduledInstallTime"=dword:00000003

    They do absolutely nothing.
    Yes I restarted.

    Just look at them - they don't even correspond with anything in the WU window. There are no options for installation day/hour. All you can set up are some "working hours".

    One thing that worked for me was to go to Computer Management, Task Scheduler and then disable any task under Microsoft->Windows->UpdateOrchestrator and Microsoft->Windows->Windows Update. Also use O&O Windows Shutup to disable any other update method.

    Correct, there are no settings for this in Settings > Windows Updates.

    The group policy is a separate setting only available as a GPO.

    Please elaborate on "They do absolutely nothing".

    I already did in previous posts. They do nothing. I have no idea how else to describe it.

    So as a regular user, not in a domain or anything, these settings are useless for me I guess.
    I am SO looking forward to having my PC reset when I have tons of unsaved work or in the middle of playing a game. ****ing Microsoft.
    There doesn't even seem to be a way to force updates only at system shutdown.

    In that case, you could try the free program O&O Windows Shutup that spapakons mentioned above to control Windows Update with.

    You can prevent that from happening by using the "Active Hours" setting

    Change Active Hours for Windows Update in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials

    (Settings > Update & Security > Change Active Hours)

    Enable or Disable Windows Update Automatic Updates in Windows 10-image.png

    And in "Advanced Options" (Pro), you could set something like this:

    Are you trying to DISABLE Automatic Updates? Because if you are then it would help if you actually had the correct values for your settings!

    Automatic Updates
    Enabled: "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000000
    Disabled: "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001

    If you're trying to DISABLE Automatic Updates then you don't even need any of those other settings. You only need "NoAutoUpdate"=dword:00000001", that's it!
