That's an incorrect statement. The article you linked to only says that a few polices are no longer valid in Windows 10 Pro instead.

The Local Group Policy Editor is and will still be available in Windows 10 Pro.

Oh it is there? I know someone with the latest Windows insider build and it still has the group policy editor but when they tried to run it, it gave an RPC failed error.

That's some other unrelated issue they are having. :)

Is there a way to verify that automatic updates are disabled now with the anniversary update? You no longer see the grayed out "Never check for updates (not recommended)" which worked as a good verification.

I just did a clean install and performed the regular configuration to prevent Microsoft's paternalism, incl setting the Device Installation Settings to no in the system properties. But then the Intel graphics HD5000 driver installed just moments after plugging in my ethernet cable. So I don't think everything is prohibited.

    Hello mertzi, :)

I find that setting your Internet connection to be metered works the best to disable automatic updates.

    Hello and thanks for replying!

I'm struggling with step 5 from the Ethernet guide. (Ethernet Connection - Set as Metered or Unmetered in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums). This was above my cognitive abilities today. Ravaging in regedit is no problem, but I get lost in the permission jungle, tutorials referencing other tutorials etc. I'll comment in the right thread instead, do you get notifications when there are comments in all of the tutorials?

That's ok. The links in those steps can help show you more on how to do them. :)

After installing Teamviewer I got the "Windows Update not active" warning I'm used to seeing so at least Teamviewer thinks it's disabled, time will tell if it actually works.

It may still be there and you can configure it, but it does not seem to be working...
