Hey Brink, I used group policy to stop all updates and made it so it prompts me to download if I wanted the update instead of automatically doing it.

I later noticed something was downloading a lot of data...I checked and it was the BITS service. Once that service is stopped, the downloading stopped. After awhile I noticed it would start itself back up again. (Maybe 10 minutes or so)
I made a little program that stops it automatically - Checks every 5 minutes or so.

I have noticed one time when I did this Windows update actually told me that my system was up to date when I know it's not and I haven't hidden any updates either.

Every had any experiences with BITS?

    Hey Roy,

The Background Intelligent Transfer Service is responsible for transfering files in the background using idle network bandwidth, so this could be from anything using BITS.

    OneDrive syncing possibly?

BITS can be used by any software, if proper commands are used, even by malware. I enable it only for WU.

Check your BITS, because deleting malware might not be enough | PCWorld

    Roy,

To be safe, I would recommend to do a full scan of your system with Windows Defender and/or a AV program.

I think that in the Home edition you can control the updates by stopping/starting the Windows Update service.
This disables completely the updates though and you will not receive the security patches.
I recommend do this when you need to use your full internet speed (example Downloading big files or Online Gaming) and then turn the service back on when your finished.
P.S I do not have home edition so I am not sure if it still works on newer builds can someone confirm?

    Yep, that's one option.

Have you heard feedback re Block Windows 10 forced updates without breaking your machine, in InfoWorld’s Woody on Windows. I've checked DWORD before/after running tool. Noel Carboni's Configure Automatic Updates tool seems to work setting reg value. Don't know if Automatic WinUpdates is really Disabled.
    Is there a related Topic/Thread...?
Or, is Option Five: my best/only option (other than Option Three) with W10Home.

    Hello bjm,

Actually, OPTION FOUR to use a metered network connection may be best to use for Windows 10 Home.

    I'm wired.....with unlimited data.
    1) Can I use Option Four without otherwise degrade.

    2) Is Noel Carboni's Configure Automatic Updates tool a viable option.
