For the restore, I would humbly suggest not doing the "rd /s /q" straight away, but rather renaming the target directories and then copying from the backups, and then finally deleting the renamed directories only if the copy returned ErrorLevel 0.
As an aside, I like using %random% for renames, to avoid name collisions in case the deletion doesn't work. (You can see that I trust nothing.) For example, set a variable to [OriginalName]%random%%random% and rename the object to %variable%.
I'd love to be able to run this group policy backup as part of my robocopy general backup script. How would one run it from within a .bat?
planning on trying to get it to run, then have robocopy fling it over to an external.
is it
wscript "path\to\script" or cscript "path\to\script" or something like that?
