That could be the cause of this if it didn't uninstall properly.

Refreshing Windows should sort this though.

    Hello TechZ,

Unfortunately, the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) is not available in the Windows 10 Home edition.

There are methods out there that will add it to the Home edition, but it's pointless to do so since none of the policies set in it will actually get applied.

If you like, you can set group policies via Registry Editor in the Home edition instead.

My grandkids use one of my elderly laptops. It was reset less than a week ago using "Fast Start" in Win Defender.

When I run "gpedit.msc", I get the "Can't find" message.

gpedit exists in several locations on my laptop:

    Hello mate,

Which edition (Pro or Home) is installed on that laptop?

Does is open if you open gpedit.msc directly from its C:\WINDOWS\system32\gpedit.msc location?

    Thanks for the info.

Quick question - is it possible to directly edit the items in local group policy via powershell (or other automatic methods)?

Apologies if there is already a topic with this info on the forum, I ran a quick search but did not find anything, unless I'm using wrong keywords.

    Thank you
