Hi Brink. I installed the reg file to disable the message but the message is still there. Even after a restart. I checked the registry and I don't see any HideMCTLink entry in.... ux/settings.

    Hello tomseys, :)

Were you able to successfully approve all the prompts to merge the .reg file from step 3?

If you like, you could also manually add the HideMCTLink DWORD, and modify it's data value to be 1.

Yes I did it twice but it did not create the registry entry. I just created it manually as you describe and it works. Why didn't the reg file create it? I am administrator (local account).

It's merging fine on my system, so I'm not sure why it didn't for you.

Usually, it would be from one of the prompts not getting approved preventing it from merging though.

That's strange. I tried to disable it with the reg file and it goes through the prompts, states it was successfully added/merged but then it had no affect - the entry is still there set to 1. Could that indicate an issue with the registry or something that interacts with it?

I have UAC set to never notify. Could that stop it even though it states merge/adding was successful?

I just tried setting UAC to highest setting. Made no difference.

I'm wondering if my registry is damaged or corrupted somehow and that is why it is not behaving as expected as far as the reg files and successful confirmation messages go.

As a test, set UAC to its default setting (2nd level from top), restart computer, and see how they work for you afterwards.

Okay, I set the UAC like you said, restarted, and then added the Add Windows 10 Creators Update message reg file to the registry and still no effect. The entry is still there set to 1.
