How to Turn On or Off Windows Defender Firewall Notifications in Windows 10

Windows Security will send notifications with critical information about the health and security of your device. You can specify which informational notifications you want.

Starting with Windows 10 build 16193, Windows Firewall has been renamed to Windows Defender Firewall.

Windows Firewall can help prevent hackers or malicious software from gaining access to your PC through the Internet or a network.

By default, you will be notified when Windows Firewall blocks a new app to be able to allow access if you like.

This tutorial will show how to turn on or off Windows Firewall notifications for all users in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to turn on or off Windows Firewall notifications.

I'm having an issue whereas randomly I'll check the firewall settings an they'll be off. Usually happens after reboots but I'm not sure if that is it.
I would think it would stay on regardless. Going into it's settings I see the notification option is Off with the caveat that it is 'managed by your administrator' when I AM the administrator and the PC is standalone with no Network or anything (Group Policy Settings?)

Here is what I'm seeing Turn On or Off Windows Defender Firewall Notifications in Windows 10-firewall_issue.jpg

what could be keeping the firewall from staying set an on at all times? my AV is WD plus Mbam Premium an that's it as far as that goes.

    Hello Sam @tazmo8448, :)

Do you have any group policies configured that could be affecting this?

Going over Firewall settings in GP everything LOOKS to be as it should be and normal did not notice anything set incorrectly.

I'm thinking that maybe when I updated/upgraded from 1703 to 1709, I didn't do it as THE Administrator but did it as Local Account Administrator. I say this because I upgraded the 1st time and a lot of every day settings like Personalization & Lock Screen settings (to name a few) had the 'setting managed by your administrator' deal an grayed out. I'm thinking that's where all these 'managed' things are coming from. I ended up Re-Installing 1703 then 1709 again and most of those 'managed' deals disappeared..

Speaking of Firewall....at least twice or more a week (every day use) I'll get Firewall exceptions for my default Chrome browser asking me to allow the exception and the thing is IN those Firewall settings all boxes are checked an look good. All this didn't occur til 1709 was rolled out.
