At least the backups should restore them for you.

The display of folder details seem to be related to the path taken to that folder. Not the folder type or it's parent folder style.

For example, if I display a Library like 'Icons' from the Library path I see this:

Change Folder Template in Windows 10-traverse-via-library.png

But if I traverse the appdata path to the same library, I see this

Change Folder Template in Windows 10-traverse-via-appdata.png

The Appdata folder view is more detailed ('General' document view) than this subfolder which is also 'General'

Correct. Each path to open the folder from has its own separate folder view.

I know this is an old post, but no joke I use the General.bat file for every build I do. Now I'm finally getting around to creating my own 8.1WMC ISO and would like to incorporate the batch file or a registry entry into the Post-Setup section of NTLite, but I'm having a very difficult time getting it to work. Has anyone else been able to do that, and if so can you give me some pointers? Ideally I'd like the registry entry to be made or the batch file to be run at the first logon of a fresh install and have the general template applied automatically.

Hello explor202, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

The part of restarting explorer in the .bat may be what is causing the issue, but it is required right after running the .bat to apply the folder views. If the explorer process is restarted later, it may not work properly.

Hi and thanks. I agree that it's more than likely Explorer not restarting that's preventing this working, as I don't think it's even running at the time the .bat file gets called. I've also tried exporting existing registry entries from another PC and loading those into the ISO, but that didn't work either. So far I've made 20 ISO's trying to get this to work, guess it's time to throw in the towel and keep doing it manually. Thanks again...

How do I save these settings in a reg file?

So I used the .bat files to reset all folders to default, and then set them all to General Items. I then sorted by file type, fitted the columns to correct size, and changed desktop icons to small.

How do I now save this view, so if I reinstall windows, I can just use a .reg file for everything, instead of having to manually sort, fit the columns and change desktop icons.

I've noticed something odd. For some reason my folder templates don't sync across hard drives. When I set a folder as a video folder on one drive it will stick. Then when I go to another drive and set the template somewhere, it reverts back to the video default.

    Hello Bob,

Are these removable drives? If so, folder views won't stick for them.
