How to Create a System Information File in Windows 10

MSINFO contains in depth pertinent information about your system and is often used by Ten Forums members when helping users solve issues, especially during debugging BSOD crash dumps. This tutorial will show you how to create your MSINFO.nfo file for uploading to Ten Forums, this will enable members to view your system information in the same UI as you see on your own PC.

The MSINFO.nfo file is usually included in the logs created by the DM Log Collector when using BSOD Posting Instructions. In the event the file is missing it will be requested by the analyst dealing with your BSODs.

If you are requested to upload your MSINFO.nfo file on multiple occasions, follow these steps on each occasion. Your system may change between each upload so it's important to ensure you capture the state of your system at the time of the request and not upload old information.

Might want to mention ten forums now in the beginning instead of seven forums.

    Otherwise looks great!

    Thanks that' GREAT Tutorial Gang!

Now that I've saved it how do I fix a black screen on startup?

I've been using W10 since day one, but since May-June 2019 I've had nothing but problems. Before that I would never turn off my PC and it would start up fine the next day from sleep mode or if I shut it down to go on a trip.

Now, I have to do a shutdown over night. (Sleep mode is now working) When I start up the next day I get a black screen and might have to use the restate button twice before I can Login. That and not being able to get sleep mode to work is really annoying.

I have an old home built Intel DZ68BC and did a fresh install Dec. 2019. Thanks Jim G.

Run the following on Command Prompt. A system information file will be created on the desktop.

    msinfo32 /report %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\System_Info.txt
