Thank you, Brink, for the information. But my question remains unanswered: How can I get to any changes in URI support that came about as a result of Windows updates since April of last year? Perhaps there is no answer available?
Currently, the MS page dated with 4/19/2019 is the latest updated list there, but the list here in this tutorial is probably the most current.

I'm not adding these pages. I am excluding non-functional URIs with the Settings Page Visibility function reached through GPEDIT. I'm doing this because the problem with Settings might be that Windows is attempting to load access to URIs unsupported on my PC when I try to go to Settings. However, excluding the non-functional URIs that I found through the list posted above did not fix the problem; perhaps URIs that I don't know about may be what is hosing Settings. Hence the question above.
The only error I am experiencing at this time is the Settings error. The method of repairing Windows 10 that you linked me to looks like the best I've seen, as it appears to be minimally disruptive. But I have a heavily loaded and customized Windows system with scores of applications that I use regularly. I had my share of problems after doing an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, but at this time have gotten rid of all of the problems with the exception of the Settings screen disappearing, and in itself that isn't a big problem since, as I pointed out, I can get to any setting directly through the RUN >> ms-settings: ... function. So yes, I would like to fix Settings but no, I won't repair Windows at this time; but thanks for the info and I will keep this method in mind for future consideration.
If Settings itself will not open using either option below, then you have an issue unrelated to the URI shortcuts.

    Open Settings in Windows 10

Other than a repair install, you could try using the command below from Option 2 in the tutorial below to reinstall and re-register the Settings app to see if that may fix it.

Reinstall and Re-register Apps in Windows 10

    Code:
    PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Command "& {$manifest = (Get-AppxPackage *immersivecontrolpanel*).InstallLocation + '\AppxManifest.xml' ; Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $manifest}"

@Brink, thanks for the list of ms-settings: very useful.
I tried to create a shortcut on the taskbar to ms-settings:network-mobilehotspot
However the shortcut will work on the desktop but won't pin to the task bar.
I tried the usual trick of adding Explorer.exe(space) in front of ms-settings:network-mobilehotspot, but when I clicked 'Apply' it turned the URL into this
    Explorer.exe ms-settings:network-mobilehotspot - Bing
Any idea how I can fix that?

Hello Diamond Pilot, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I've created a shortcut using the same location path below, and was able to change its icon and "Pin to taskbar".

    explorer.exe ms-settings:network-mobilehotspot

If you like, here's the shortcut below in a ZIP file to download. You will just need to change the icon to what you want.

    Mobile Hotspot.zip

Thank you. Very helpful. Worked a treat.
Looks like I had the 'C:\Windows\' missing off the front of the string.

Thanks for pulling this together. I'd been thinking about doing likewise myself. But as you so often are, you're way ahead of me.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that the URL to "Manage sound devices" is spelled wrong. Thought this might be worth fixing as it took me quite a while to figure out this was the problem.
    Best Regards

    Hello all,

I stumbled upon this thread from searching away, and it's been super useful!

A quick question, is it possible to use the URI method to open a folder? I can open files, but trying to get my head around how to open a folder in Windows Explorer using it isn't as obvious as I would've thought...
