Glad to hear you got things sorted!!SUCCESS
another day gone - but the main thing is that I have finally got it working with no corruptions - checked with Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth - nothing found - I guess sfc /scannow is not needed, or should I do this to be sure?
There is still one grey cloud floating about - which I am hoping does not come my way (again) - that troublemaker Security update KB3074683 has so far not be downloaded in updates:
Attachment 28593
That language bit is real weird - I upgraded 3 computers to W10 - all in English - and at no point did the process (MS) tell me I could not do that - so why all of a sudden it is a problem I can't fathom - but okay I just downloaded the German version, and started all over again.
For anybody else reading this who might be as in-experienced as me - and need to do the same - there was for me one bit in this that I got a bit stuck - did not know what I should do - so I will try to clarify that bit- maybe it helps. I had the USB Flash drive plugged for the (repair/re-install) the previous faulty upgrade - and the machine does it's thing a long while - and you just leave it to get on with it - but after some time a small dark purple (or something) window opens and you have to select something (can't remember but not difficult) - but then it moves on to the part where it asks you to put in your serial number - and here I got uncertain - I was doing a repair not a new install - in the bottom of this window there is a small text which allows you to seek other options (which I checked out because I was uncertain what to do - things like going back to old version/reset and such like - none of which I wanted/was right - and "so very typical of MS" there was no way to get back to that purple screen other than selecting the shut the pc down option - which I did because I had no other choice!). After restarting Computer I only got back to the same purple screen and serial number (or other options again) - took me a couple of goes at this - before I figured it out! I didn't put in any serial, went to other options, and shut down computer - then unplugged/removed the USB Flash drive and restarted the Computer - then finally you get into the Upgrade without serial number and get to keep all your stuff and apps! Typically you are given so little information and guidance when you are doing something like this, during the process - and before - for me it is one of the very major and extreme failings of MS - they think the whole world are carbon copy nerds like them - as though I have been the whole time sitting behind them, watching over their shoulder when they set all these things up! COME ON MS - WAKE UP!
MANY THANKS TO: Brink LittleJay (who no doubt has gone fishing to get over the horror of helping me) Xercaium and to everyone else who was sitting in the Arena laughing, cheering or booing
mind you, can't forget the one grey cloud still floating about KB3074683
UPDATE - ON THIS GREY CLOUD KB3074683 - just thought to check the uninstall updates - and KB3074683 is listed as being installed (but not in the update list - just like last time) so my hope is that it does not start a repeated attempt to re-install just like it did last time - fingers-crossed!
