    ...right now, my problem is to find a way to decrypt the install.esd file that is in the 'Sources" folder of my mounted Windows.iso file in order to change to install.wim...
    You have two options, this tutorial and its ESDtoISO tool should help with the decrypting...

    ...or you could just download a ,iso that includes an install.wim, as does the .iso you can get with this tip.

    The link provided in this thread for the Tech Bench ISO goes way back to 2015 and doesn't seem to work anymore. ..
    Tech Bench has been 'pensioned off' apparently, but you can get links to the same Microsoft .iso downloads with this 3rd-party tool from HeiDoc.

    @ Bree,

    Thanks a lot for the help you are providing me. I found a way to convert the install.esd file to install.wim and I am in the middle of trying to see if it can work with the 'DISM' command line. I will also try the link from heidoc.net and get back to you. :)

    Need help. I burned an ISO to a ScanDisk thumb. I'm following Shawn's tute and use the command in Admin Command Prompt >

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:G:\sources\install.wim

    but the thing keeps coming up with this error "The specified path was not found". Any suggestions?

    Hello Tony,

    DISM is currently pretty much broken right now in the Windows 10 Creators Update.

    You could try downloading an ,iso that includes an install.wim from below to use.

    @HippsieGypsie Forgot the index number;

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:G:\sources\install.wim
    ....might instead try
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:G:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess
    ( :1 usually is Windows Pro, :2 usually is Home - dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:G:\Sources\install.wim)

    @Bree,

    I downloaded the Windows.iso from Heidoc.net's link and everything went seamlessly. I mounted it in File Explorer with drive letter: H:\. I made sure to check if the install.wim file was in the Sources Folder of the mounted image. Yes, it was. So far, so good. Then, I ran the following command line with and w/o the /limitaccess switch:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:H:\sources\install.wim:1 /limitaccess

    Unfortunately, in both cases, I got no joy. See screenshot below:

    I really thank you again for your time. It's getting late close to midnight (my time US-Canada Eastern Time) and I have been in this tutorial and the Web almost all day. I will have another go at it tomorrow and keep you posted.

    Thank you, Shawn. :) Glad it wasn't me! Followed the tute to the tee.

    And I've used the Media Creation Tool before.
