Using install.esd from a USB Media Creation Tool or even from a local disk did not work for me. what did work was downloading an ISO file, mounting it, and then copying the install.win file to a local disk.

No it will not work. Hopefully @Brink will update the tutorial. Use the TechBench version - it works fine.

    Hello Balubeto, :)

The component store basically is what SFC uses to repair system files from.

None of the commands in the tutorial can be used at boot.
In practice, the Windows component store is located in the "System Reserved" partition where there is the Windows "extra heart" constituted by its system files.

So, the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth command tries to repair the store above so that the sfc /scannow /offbootdir=C:\ /offwindir=D:\windows command can obtain the system files from it.

    Right?

    Thanks

    Bye

No. Everything you said is wrong. Please open another thread and I'll explain it. Here isn't the place as it would spoil this thread.

Using the /source option of the DISM command with an install.wim or install.esd file in a DVD, I should specify any volume image present in one of these files to repair the components of Windows or I should point the volume image containing the edition of Windows 10 that I should fix?

    Thanks

    Try it like this:

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:G:\sources\install.esd

In my case G was a thumb drive

It does not work because my install.esd file contains some volume images that contain multiple editions of Windows 10.

    Now what do I do?

    Thanks

Try opening it up with 7Zip find what you need, and try tagging it on with "": /Source"DiskLetter"\sources\install.esdORwim"TheCorrectEditionOrFolder"

    Now, it works.

This command also works to repair the Windows components of an offline image of Windows 10 or should I change something To do this?

If I had to change this command what changes should I make?

    Thanks
