did this today but had to do it in windows , as looks like comcast xfinity blocks changing this in there routers that sucks.
There's an error in the Google Public DNS settings. It should be "2001:4860:4860::8888" and "2001:4860:4860::8844" instead of "2001:4860:4860:8888" and "2001:4860:4860:8844". Note the missing semicolon in the collapse.
I'm very confused about the correct settings to change IPv4 and IPv6 DNS server addresses.
I'll try to explain.
There are (I interpret ignorantly) at least 3 places in which to insert these addresses and which can be set in completely different ways:
1) on the computer;
2) on the router;
3) in the browser? For example: in Firefox I can set DNS to HTTPS.
What is it that I can't understand being, I repeat, very ignorant on the subject?
Hello Minnie,
No worries. They're all just options to use depending on what you want.
It's best to set all three to use the same DNS you want to use unless you want one to use something different than another. Usually, you can set the browser to use the same DNS set for the computer though to help save a step.
Hi Brink, Thank you very much for the very quick response and that it will help me with the settings. Good work.
