How to Install and Uninstall Notepad app in Windows 10
Notepad has been the fast and simple text editor on Windows for over 30 years, and now it’s available in the Microsoft Store. View, edit, and search through plain text documents and source code files instantly.
You can install the Windows Notepad app from the Microsoft Store to Windows 10 version 19541.0 or higher.
This tutorial will show you how to install and uninstall the Notepad app from the Microsoft Store for your account in Windows 10.

EXAMPLE: Notepad
1 Go to the Windows Notepad download page in the Microsoft Store app.
2 Click/tap on Get or Install. (see screenshots below)
3 When Notepad has finished installing, you can Launch (open) it if you like. (see screenshot below)
4 You can now close the Microsoft Store app if you like.
1 Open Settings, and click/tap on the Apps icon.
2 Click/tap on App & features on the left side, click/tap on Notepad on the right side, and click/tap on the Uninstall button. (see screenshot below)
3 Click/tap on Uninstall to confirm. (see screenshot below)
4 You can now close Settings if you like.
1 Open a command prompt.
2 Copy and paste the command below into the command prompt, and press Enter. (see screenshot below)
powershell -command "Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsNotepad* | Remove-AppxPackage"
3 You can now close the command prompt if you like.
1 Open PowerShell.
2 Copy and paste the command below into the PowerShell, and press Enter. (see screenshot below)
Get-AppxPackage *Microsoft.WindowsNotepad* | Remove-AppxPackage
3 You can now close the PowerShell if you like.

Is there a viable replacement of Notepad for those of us who have the latest Windows 10 ver 1903..? I've used Notepad daily since the inception of Windows decades ago. Its simplicity and easy to copy and paste features were fabulous and didn't self destruct when I didn't think & write fast enough.

Notepad is here, (right click)..... I chose to run as Administrator and pinned it to my taskbar. I use it too much to be with out it!!

Thanks, Jacee, I did find it, however it freezes when I try to launch it as it does for users sharing @ 1903: Notepad freezes.

darn it Microsoft!
I can't download & install the Windows Notepad app from MS store anymore
they changed the Windows system requirements to be using at least Win10 build 19541 or greater!

I have WIndows Notepad on all my Win10 computers, both Pro and Home, came with them.
Humongous problem, the System Requirements for Windows Notepad are not for the latest RTM version which is Version 1909 Build 18363.778, clicking the link takes one to the Insider program which is a later Version and Build number. There are a few other versions available with slightly different names such as Notepad+, Notepad++, just plain Notepad, etc.
EDIT: I just checked the Store's Windows Notepad choice on my IP computer and it doesn't open, probably because it already came with the Fast Ring install, Version 2004 Build 19608.1006.Last edited by Berton; 21 Apr 2020 at 15:11.

The Notepad app from the Microsoft Store is now available again for Windows 10 version 19541 or higher.
It can be installed and used separately along with the normal built-in Notepad program included in Windows 10.
