    Hello

Been using this method for some time now but still have an issue with moving the location and the end result.

Locations move without a hitch onto my NAS but there are no associated images on the new location folders (just a plain folder) and the old folder still remains so I have to hide that? If I do the same process to an internal location/hard drive, no problem so it appears to be all about the NAS location.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Hello jl2509,

Yeah, this is happening since the NAS is considered to be a removable drive.

As an alternative, you might see how creating a symbolic link with your Pictures folder and a folder on the NAS drive may work instead of moving the Pictures folder to the NAS.

Following these steps I was able to move the pictures folder to the new location but when I turned OneDrive protection back on, the folder disappeared from the new location and reappeared in the original location. Any idea why this happened?

From what I understand it's difficult to move the default OneDrive folder. For that reason I kept it on C Drive. I use Box and was able to move that location to D Drive along with all my other folders such as pictures, music, videos, documents, etc.

Hello cocoabean, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Instead of selecting to back up the Pictures folder to OneDrive, does selecting the Pictures folder at the new location to sync with OneDrive using the method below allow it to stay at the new location for you?

    Hi Brink and thanks :)

The method you linked doesn't work either.
    1) When I "Right click or press and hold on a file or folder in OneDrive" there is no option to "Choose OneDrive folders to sync"
    2) When I go into OneDrive-> settings->account-> choose folders, my "new" folder is not shown (I am guessing this is because it is local and not on OneDrive)

Thanks Hikertrash, I was hoping for a free way to do this :)

Thanks Brink for the easy to follow tutorial. I'm just setting up a new laptop and this was one of my goals to direct as many data files, pictures, music etc. to my HDD and not to the SSD. I'm all set now.

    Same problem as TONPumper

I'm trying to move my default document and picture folders away from OneDrive into on of my local folders, and it keeps preventing me. I even tried uninstalling OneDrive and that didn't work either. This is the process that the pop ups appeared as. And this happens every time I try to move the default away from OneDrive, no matter what folder I try to move it too.

Hello LightSith, and welcome to Ten Forums.

It looks like you are trying to move your OneDrive Pictures folder instead of the Pictures folder in your user profile folder.

If wanted, you should be able to move or copy the contents of the OneDrive Pictures folder in to the Pictures folder in your user profile folder.
