I intend to explain this when I rewrite the tutorial. Please keep on your minds fellow esteemed geeks that until that this is all experimental :)

That being said, it's like this:

    • In express (differential) upgrade the size of UUP folder is over 7 GB when everything is extracted (even canonical upgrade UUP folder is about 3 GB)
    • I see no point in Copy & Pasting the files to another folder just to make an ISO, on my ailing laptop it takes closer to 20 minutes. Instead I Cut & Paste in a few seconds
    • When done, I have an ISO image to mount and upgrade using it, I don't need to use Windows Update > Restart now
    • If I prefer Windows Update > Restart now upgrade method, or if I even when upgrading using ISO but for some reason I want to preserve UUP files, have them present in Windows.old folder after the upgrade, I simple revert my Cut & Paste, this time back to original folder in %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download (of course in this case I carefully noted the folder name before first Cut & Paste to UUP\UUPs folder!)

If doing from explorer, the best would be to leave the window opened.
I'm always using cut and paste ...
Fafhrd's proposal is good idea, if it'll be automatized.
    Great job everybody involved.

    Note   Note
Tutorial updated, this post is not relevant anymore.

OK "beta testers", please test and give feedback. Download latest version: UUPtoISOSetup.exe

File is digitally signed, no Windows Smart Screen complaints. To keep track and make things a bit easier I started versioning this, the one downloadable now is version 2.2.

    Changes:
    • UUPtoISO can be installed anywhere you want to
    • Installation and Start Menu folders can be named as you wish
    • Tool is now an application (.exe) allowing a Start Menu launcher and desktop shortcut being created when installing, allowing pinning a Start tile, and allowing uninstall normally from Settings > Apps or Programs and Features
    • No copying or moving files anymore, you can make ISO simply by pointing UUPtoISO to UUP folder in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download before preforming the upgrade, or the same folder in Windows.old if you have already upgraded

If you decide to test please read very short and simple Quick Start.pdf first, it can be found in UUPtoISO folder after installation. Here's the PDF in case you want to read it before downloading and installing: Quick Start.pdf

    All feedback welcome.

You are welcome. Of course I will rewrite tutorial and redo the video when I'm sure this works as it should but for now the PDF should tell you what to do.

Unfortunately, it's no longer available on your OneDrive Kari. When will it be alive-and-kicking again?
