I will challenge myself to rewrite this UUP thingie using PS. Making easy to import modules that the user just run from anywhere in the shell for conversion.
One issue from coder's point of view is that the folder with long hexa string as folder name is always different. It is same for every user in this build, but in next build it has a new name.

    hi

I can assure you he was Finnish and his name was spelt pretty much like I said as I visited him at Neste Oy in Finland (been taken over now).
Finland is bilingual country, official languages being Finni sh and Swedish. The name you described can only be Gyllenstierna as Slicendice said. It is an old Swedish name, also known in Finland as a last name of people most Finns call "Finland Swedes", people speaking Swedish as their mother tongue.

Think it as if it wa Belgium; they have their Flemish (Dutch) names (families) and their French names. The same in Finland,*some families have a traditional Finnish name, some a Swedish one.

Yes that UUP HEX-folder is a challenge but not an issue at all. We know what we are looking for, so it is just a matter of finding the correct folders and file paths. I am not going to hard code any variable folder names.

You are going to code searching for the particular .ESD file and then make a copy of the directory containing that file for the purpose of making the .ISO, in much the game way as Kari's tutorial does?

it seems one could use the *.esd(s) from that current location

problem would be having more the one distribution/folder containing several esd files

While true, it would still be better to make a copy of it, so that you would not have to necessarily build the .ISOright then, and could go ahead and perform the update and build the .ISO later as neeeded.

As for containing more than one .ESD files, well, many folders have .esd files in them - but (usually) only one has the one that you're looking for to make the .ISO from.

This might of course change later but at the moment, in all UUP builds, only one subfolder in %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download has had ESD files.

This whole tutorial is based on the fact that when you find the folder with ESDs, you've found the correct folder to make ISO from.

15019 is proving difficult. I'm still on 15007 on this laptop, which hasn't accepted the last few previous Fast ring builds.
Various false starts with 15019 - downloading, installing, fix issues, downloading, installing, fix issues, (rinse, repeat)*n then finally, Windows update says ready to restart - so perhaps it is time for UUPtoISO as a precaution.
Then UUPtoISO has the following error:
UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files-2017_01_31_11_44_291.png
Now this problem file is, I guess, to do with a HyperV virtual device driver, which is irrelevant for this laptop with only 4GB RAM:
UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files-2017_01_31_11_45_122.png
(Details from the 15007 \windows\WinSXS folder.)
Now how will this affect the restart, - will it install to 99%, check, and find a file missing, then rollback? - because this folder and the wvpcinull.inf.loc file are not present in the \$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\SafeOS\SafeOS.Mount\Windows\WinSxS folder? This looks like a mounted .wim (or .esd) image of the new build OS.

This SafeOS.mount folder is the location of the biggest set of installation files in \$WINDOWS.~BT with properties that show they belong to 15019, and not older builds, so presumably represents the delta installation files:

UUP to ISO - Create Bootable ISO from Windows 10 Build Upgrade Files-2017_01_31_11_26_201.png

So, how can we "...use the -- ref argument to specify the WIM(s)..." or if not, what is the way to proceed?
