@Kari - I just noticed this today when using UUPDUMP mini server - my apologies if it was already covered, but I honestly haven't not seen this before today.

When first starting the miniserver using run.cmd, when your default browser opens with the initial list (aka home page of the server), there seems to be a new option:

    Attachment 182004

Has this always been there? If not, will this make things easier for folks who don't want to wait for the interminably slow DL speeds of WU?
I've not seen that selection before, and am not fully understanding what it means. Need to check and test.

Ok, do it is not just me.

It seems like it might allow someone to download the files required for WU to process, if so, this is an incredible bonus, because I can download once and copy to other machines to upgrade, saving valuable bandwidth.

I certainly hope this is the case.

Of course you can also save bandwidth by doing one ISO and upgrading all machines using it.

That being said, I still have no idea what it is.

Download gives a 20 MB file:

Running it on a few virtual machines, nothing happens.

It is the Windows Setup executable that installs the specific edition to YOUR computer hardware and software configuration.

It can not be run just like that...this file always comes with the WU upgrade files and I am not quite sure what parameters it requires in order to start the setup process.

In any case, that would not be bandwidth saver. Even if we knew the parameters, it needs to download upgrade separately on each machine.

I don't think that tool downloads anything. It just setups your computer using the configuration files already downloaded. I'll take a closer look at it once I have time.

I think WindowsUpdateBox.exe download is added because uup-converter-wimlib author has found a way to use it to perform upgrade directly from UUP files, for those who don't want to create iso separately

not sure if i'm allowed to post a link to his guide at MDL
