OK, Roger, I'm creating a VM with only a 20 GB VHD to see if in fact the lack of space is causing any issues (which both Kari and I suspect that it is).

I've got build 15048 installed on there now, and there is 9.46 GB free. However, after downloading the update, I'm betting that there will be less than 3 GB of space free before the update even starts. If this produces similar results to yours, in that several folders are not found in the correct directory, then our theory will be confirmed, and you'll need to clean up a bit of space in order to use the UUP2ISO successfully next time.
Thanks for taking the time to carry this out and validating your hunches on my behalf.

I would like to posit that I was able to install the update, it is only when I am trying to create the ISO from the UUP that I am having issues with. Update install fine in other words.

Correct. In my previous instance of a VM with such a small HD, it, too, was able to update to newer IP builds without issues, although I would get a nag about low disk space soon after upgrading, which reminded me to run disk cleanup to get that space back.

That's why I think this will be a perfect test bed.

Ok, I just wanted to make sure that the VM you created had just enough space to install the update.

Ah, this is going to be complicated.

The VM did not activate. And if you read the screenshot, you'll see why this is hilarious.

Clearly from the screenshot, neither of the first 2 apply - the license is for WinX Pro IP and I installed WinX Pro IP.

Since there is no activation button, I'm going to try some other things.

Oh, and I have a lunch date (for my BD). So this will be later.

    Hi Kari,
Using your tutorial, I have successfully added the "Repair Your Computer" option to my 15058 ISO.
This was more of an exercise for me than a practical change, since I had never updated an ISO before.

    Your tutorials are OUTSTANDING!

    Thanks.

I was thinking that it can't be true what I said earlier, that there's nothing I can do for this missing repair option. Two coffees, a walk in nearby beautiful park, two whiskies, and suddenly I realized I've once again had one of those Darwin Awards moments: I've already written a tutorial about how to fix this! And it's really easy.

OK, those who want to have Repair this computer option available at boot in self made ISO, here's what to do:

1.) Run UUPtoISO, select option 2 - Create install.wim instead of option 1 - Create ISO:
If you have already created an ISO with UUPtoISO, there's no need to create a separate install.wim file; your ISO already contains it in Sources folder, use it in next step.

2.) When install.wim file has been created, make ISO as told in Part Five in this tutorial (link takes you directly to Part Five): Create Windows 10 ISO image from Existing Installation

That's it. Step 2 above takes a few minutes resulting an "official self made" Insider ISO with Repair this computer option.

As you for sure noticed, that was both easy and relatively fast :)

Yes both. I was surprised how fast it was.
Only anomaly was that when I booted from the ISO and did a Shift-F10 to get a command prompt it indicated Version 14393 (which I used to modify the 15085 ISO). However, it then did install 15085.

You might next time want to try the last official Inider ISO from Microsoft as ISO files source, currently they are offering build 15048 ISOs.

Ok - the activation message is misleading. You have to click on link 'I have changed my hardware' as a vm counts as a new device.

May do that later this week with the next insider build.

    Thanks Kari for your help!
