    I think tha MS's interest in ARM is that it's makers are working up (slowly) to much more powerful CPUs and "System on CPU" and in few years they will rival Intel and AMD in desktop segment.

    In the mobile world ARM is killing all Intel architecture CPUs in performance/watt. Why else would 99.999999% of all mobile devices be powered by an ARM instead of i-Atom or similar. Even the latest Mali (ARM) GPUs are beating any other GPU in performance/watt by flying colors. The Mali G71 in my Note 8 is an amazing performer when it comes to graphics and AI.

    ARM is the future and it has been for a very long time. It just has taken the rest of the world a long time to realize that and in reality though improved a lot, Intel CPUs are really crap compared to many other dead or almost dead architectures.

    Sadly the guys with the best business strategy and most money won the battle.

    For instance take a look back at the Amiga and it's hardware and architecture as a whole and then compare the performance and architecture to a PC of that era. The x86 PC is like a typewriter vs the Amiga which one could actually do some real work on (Graphics, Video, Music, and 3D design(real time rendering of objects without effects) etc...). Too heavy marketing on Gaming instead of business use killed Commodore completely and that is very sad. Apple did a great job for a while but then they entered the i-architecture world and has neither no real advantage anymore.

    So, what would happen if we had a 100-140W TDP ARM CPU (because Intel and AMD has a lot of these) paired with a 200-300W TDP ARM/Mali GPU (because AMD and NVidia has a lot of these)? You think AMD/NVidia/Intel would stand a chance? ...well I leave it up to you, but the answer should be quite obvious.

    Sorry for the long rant, but this is my 30-40 years experience of computers and it makes me sad when most of the tech (both software and hardware) we use today are in the crappiest end of innovation of all time.

    Atari, Commodore, Amiga, Apple were way in front of Intel at that time but they didn't have own processors and their demise was More because of closed architecture and fragmented OSs than because of HW. Only Apple got away with it, others just fell in front of IBM > Intel > MS connection. Motorola, Zylex and others just fell off because of not taking PC market seriously. Until 386 Intel didn't have competitive HW. After that one AMD and Cyrix tried to get in the game and than Cyrix derailed so only AMD tried hard enough few times even surpassing Intel in innovations. Needless to say, things got complicated and ARM is going back to basics, not having to make everything grandfather compatible has it's own benefits, you can innovate to your hart's content.

    As is the (admittedly, slightly locked) Adreno 540 in the Snapdragon 835 in my Pixel 2 XL.

    Which is why I wanted to see if I could start playing with WinX on it ;p

    @CountMike

    What do you mean by fragmented OS? Amiga Workbench was definitely NOT fragmented, it took about 10 years for MS and IBM to catch up with their OS/2/NT and Windows. Commodore ruined it for themselves other ways, not because of hardware, architecture nor application support. It was simply BAD business!

    And what comes to Motorolas 68k CISC CPUs and similar...I still use those heavily today. :)

    I was gonna mention the 68K workhorses by Motorola as well. A variety of OEMs used them back in the day, including Apple

    Very great hardware too...a bit at the slower side today compared to the latest Malis (ARM has made HUGE advances lately) but still not terrible at all.

    NVidia Tegra is essentially an ARM chip and even AMD uses ARM tech in it's APUs. :)

    Hello all, Just curious if anyone has had issues with the latest Insider Build 17093. There has been a discussion in the Insider forum as there are several users that tried to clean install with the resulting ISO image using rufus to make a bootable flash card. The end result being it would just boot up to the troubleshooter screen. I had just used my ISO image by mounting and upgrading which worked fine. This got my curiosity so I tried to clean install from the ISO image making a new virtual machine in VMware. Sure enough, it just booted to the troubleshooter screen. As suggested by another user, I used Command Prompt and ran setup.exe manually and it installed.

    Unfortunately, I have already cleaned out all my windows.old folders in all my test machines but I was guilty of using the older version 2.2.1.0 and cannot check out 3.0 myself. Another user mentioned he used the version from October 2017 which I am going to assume was 3.0. He was the one that first reported this. I was surprised when I come on this forum that nothing had been mentioned. I used a new sign in due to losing all my older info.

    Another poster in the Insider forum did not see this issue at all, but stated he was using uup-converter-wimlib-14 and his ISO booted up as normal, with the windows installer. This is the first time I have seen this, but I haven't tried a clean install since build 17025. I will update my UUPtoISO to 3.0 and see what happens when the next build comes out. Just to clarify, I did make the image just before the reboot during upgrade. I have seen many users making the ISO out of the windows.old folder and having it work also that way.
